While many people fear a Chiropractic adjustment and myths avail, the fact has always remained that due to its incredible safety record, Chiropractic malpractice insurance is about the cost of car insurance compared to the five to six figure malpractice for medical doctors.
Additionally, while many people question it, due to purely results in getting people well, the number of families adjusted annually continues to grow by the tens of thousands.
Here are the recent independent facts determined by medical doctors in medical journals on Chiropractic
SAFETY Spine Medical Journal October 1, 2007, 32(21):2375-2378 After having more than 19,700 patients undergo more than 50,000 cervical spine manipulations [adjustments], a team of researchers concluded that your risk of having a serious adverse event from “getting your neck cracked,” is none.
The manipulation technique at the focus of this safety study was defined as the application of high-velocity / low-amplitude or mechanically assisted thrust to the cervical spine. Patients were followed, and any adverse symptoms were recorded immediately and up to seven days after treatment. There were no reports of serious adverse events [Compare that to a recent NY Times and USA today article showing the chance of serious adverse events in hospitals was 1 out of 1].
EFFECTIVENESS Chiropractic Cuts Blood Pressure, WebMD Medical News: March 16, 2007 A chiropractic adjustment can significantly lower high blood pressure, a placebo-controlled study suggests. “This procedure has the effect of not one, but two blood-pressure medications given in combination,” study leader George Bakris, MD, tells WebMD. “And it seems to be adverse-event free. We saw no side effects and no problems,” adds Bakris, director of the University of Chicago hypertension center.
Recently, The Medical Journal: Journal of Manipulative and Physiologic Therapeutics (JMPT) published a study that analyzed data from health comparisons between those utilizing wellness oriented chiropractors as their Primary Care Physicians and those who’s Primary Care Physicians practice conventional medicine. The findings were as follows:
Chiropractic/wellness patients had -60.2% fewer hospital admissions, -59% less days hospitalized, -62% less outpatient surgeries, and -85% less pharmaceutical costs [amazing!].

My Grandfather
Some of you may know that my grandfather of 86 years was diagnosed with mesothelioma, another form of lung cancer. By the way, lung cancer diagnoses totaled about 170,000 new cases per year and 160,000 deaths per year. It is the leading cause of death in both genders. Five year survival rate is 5-7%. He was exposed to asbestos around 60 years ago when he was in the Canadian Navy. About 2 years ago, he fell in my parent’s backyard landing on his right side. We thought nothing of it. It was a small thing. Well, that small thing turned into him not being able to walk daily, like he used to. I can remember being little and watching him swim laps in the pool. I thought it was amazing. I was always curious and interested in his exercise habits.
I was shocked to find out that he had not been exercising. That was a small thing. Then I noticed that his eating habits had changed and that he started to put on a bit of weight. That was a small thing. Then he stopped coming into the office weekly…This too was a small thing. One day he was having trouble breathing…Yet another small thing. He was taken to the emergency room because all of those small things added up and turned into a huge thing. He was diagnosed with lung cancer. How would you feel? What would you do if it was your family member? Who would you turn to? He went through the surgeries, did the chemo. Now his doctors have given up. There is nothing else they can do. They called Hospice to come check on him once a week. Again what would you do? Who would you turn to for help besides GOD???
Well, I am proud to say I am taking authority over his health. I am letting him know that his body has the POWER TO HEAL!!! For as long as I can remember, he has never been sick, he has never taken medications. He taught me the principal that doctors don’t heal you when you are sick. The Power God gave you heals you. Just tap in to it.
So, that is what we are doing. I have been adjusting him and my grandma 3 times a week at their house. We bought him some amazing nutrients call POLY-MVA. He has taken it for 2 days and we are getting reports that he is eating 3 times a day now, instead of once a day. I now have him riding his stationary bike 3 times a day for 3-5 minutes.
There is no reason why he can’t heal. Get adjusted (keeping the nerves open), proper nutrients (the healing diet) and exercise (oxygen to the cells). These are small things. He is turning the corner. They are adding up to a HUGE THING!!!!

FDA Ponders Psychiatric Warning for Common Flu Drugs
An FDA staff report recommends adding label warnings about possible neuropsychiatric side effects in individuals taking the influenza drugs oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza).
The report was prepared for a meeting of the Pediatric Advisory Committee to take place this week. The FDA found 596 cases of neuropsychiatric events associated with oseltamivir and 115 with zanamivir. The cases, mostly in people age 21 or younger and mostly from Japan, included delirium, hallucinations, and impulsive behavior, including a desire to jump. Five fatalities were associated with oseltamivir use while none were associated with zanamvir.
The agency cautioned it could not rule out the possibility that the behavior was due to the illness rather than the treatment. However, the reports “raise the question” of whether the events result from the neuraminidase inhibitor class. It said “it seems prudent” for both drugs to carry label warnings of hallucinations, delirium, and abnormal behavior.
Glaxo and Roche, which make the two drugs, said label updates are unnecessary, because the events could have resulted from flu symptoms.

HOLIDAY STRESS RAISES HEALTH RISKS, CHIROPRACTORS CAUTION
With the holiday season upon us and Thanksgiving and other seasonal observances underway, it is important to your good health to take a few simple steps to reduce the stress and strain of this busy time. This is especially important in light of the recent environment of crisis and stress so many have experienced because of economic concerns, weather, wildfires in the West and international conflicts. With these recent challenges in mind, issues and concerns related to our own safety and security are very real to people of all ages. Take a little time to slow down, recognize the need to have a little more patience, plan ahead with the thought of reducing the stress of last minute efforts. Make a special point during this holiday season to express your thoughts and feelings to your friends and loved ones.
You can start by taking a little extra care of yourself and your family at the dinner table. Have you ever filled yourself with great holiday food and pushed away from the table in agony? This may be the beginning of an unhealthy scenario that you can avoid this holiday season, according to the International Chiropractors Association.
”A bulging stomach can put pressure on your body’s support systems, including your spine and spinal nerves,” advises Dr. Troy, who deals with the health needs of people of all ages in the community. “Every extra pound in the abdominal region could put 10 pounds more stress on the lower back. This stress can last a short time, such as just after eating a heavy meal or lifting a package improperly. It may also become chronic, as heavy eating during the holidays may lead to weight gain, and carrying extra pounds can put added strain on the supporting structures of the spine and nervous system.”
Additional weight can force the pelvis and torso to shift and cause changes in spinal balance, leading to spinal misalignments (known as subluxations) and malfunction in the entire body. Dr. Troy suggests eating in moderation and taking a 15-20 minute walk after a big meal to ease discomfort and burn a few calories. Fitness research findings indicate you can burn up to 100 calories in a 30-minute walk.
What you eat is as important as how much you eat, and more and more evidence indicates that eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, low sodium and low sugar recipes and limiting your intake of red meat protein, starches such as pasta, bread, corn and potato chips, and fats and oils, are all essential to maintaining your good health.
Absolute Life Chiropractic has prepared a list of health tips to help protect your back and general health over the holidays:
¨ Lift packages, firewood, your frozen holiday turkey and other heavy items with your legs, not your back. When lifting, hold objects close to your body; rather than flexing forward, maintain a slight arch in your lower back and bend at the knees before standing up with the object. That way, the lifting is done primarily with the strong muscles of the legs supporting the load. Don’t wait until you are hurting to see your doctor of chiropractic. Chiropractic adjustments can keep you going at your peak and help you get extra enjoyment during the holiday season.
¨ When cooking or standing for an extended period, elevate one foot with a foot rest or stacked books, about six inches from the floor. Alternately elevating each foot relieves tired back and leg muscles—similar to the function the footrest serves for customers standing at a counter—and helps prevent bad posture habits that can lead to abnormal spinal curvatures.
¨ Travel stress can be minimized if you start your journey having gotten plenty of rest ahead of time, allow plenty of extra time to your destination, pack light, use well-balanced wheeled luggage when you can and be careful to avoid heavy loads on your shoulders from bags with shoulder straps.
¨ When traveling by car or plane, place a pillow or folded towel behind the small of the back to help maintain the arch in your lower back and support the rest of the body properly. This relieves the discs and joint structures of the spine from unnecessary pressure.
¨ In addition to fastening your seat belt for car trips, adjust the headrest to align with your head, at least up to ear level. This is important to support and protect the head and neck in the unfortunate event of a sudden stop.
¨ Get enough rest. Many health problems that occur with the holidays are simply due to fatigue. By simply getting adequate rest, you can help prevent structural strain, emotional and cognitive imbalance, and general health problems.
